MEDIABASE RECURRENT RULES

UPDATED JULY 2024

Note: In all formats except Country, songs appearing on the chart that have not peaked above the aforementioned thresholds would need to be down in spins two weeks in a row to be moved to recurrent.

A song that falls below the chart prior to 20 weeks (except Country) will be moved to recurrent after being down three weeks in a row in spins.

Excluding the Country format, songs that have become recurrent after 20 weeks will be eligible to be reinstated if they have risen back into the top 10 and are up in spins four consecutive weeks. The song will appear on the building chart at the beginning of the fifth week.

Mediabase reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to modify, amend, interpret, suspend, waive, supplement, or otherwise revise any Gold, Recurrent, and Current ("G,R,C") policies, methodologies, criteria, procedures, or chart-related practices at any time and for any reason, with or without prior notice. In addition, determinations regarding Recurrent status may be subject to the reasonable discretion of Mediabase's Chart Editors, including but not limited to circumstances involving specialty programming, holiday programming, format-specific considerations, market conditions, data anomalies, or other factors deemed relevant to maintaining the accuracy, integrity, consistency, and stability of Mediabase charts. Such determinations shall be final and binding.

Reinstatement To Current Status

Songs listed as Gold or Recurrent in Mediabase would be considered for a reinstatement to Current status at a specific format(s) providing the following criteria are met:

  • It is being actively worked by a major label/distributor.
  • The song must be significantly trending up in spins for three consecutive weeks.
  • It increases in airplay from 3 or more different group owners with no more than 50% from one group ownership.
  • The song must exceed its peak position from the original release.
  • The original label would still need to be included in the listing.
  • The song would only be made Current at formats where it meets the above mentioned criteria.
  • Once the song is no longer actively being reworked as a Current, Mediabase will revert to the songs original release date to preserve historical data.
